MONTROSE — The woman killed in a head-on collision last Friday evening on U.S. Hwy 50 east of Montrose has been identified as Kari L. Nelson, 34, from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
According to a Montrose County news release, the cause of death was multiple blunt force impact injuries. At just past 6 p.m. last Friday, Montrose EMS personnel were dispatched to a three-car collision on U.S. Hwy 50 at mile post 106. The accident closed both lanes of the highway. Nelson was taken by ambulance to Montrose Memorial Hospital where she later died. Another man who was involved in the crash suffered serious injuries and was taken to MMH, while a third man was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction.
The collision is under investigation by the Montrose County Coroner’s Office of Medical Investigation and the Colorado State Patrol.
