TMVOA Pledges Final Year of Support
MOUNTAIN VILLAGE – StraightOut Group, owners and producers of Telluride Gay Ski Week, announced Tuesday the dates for their 2015 event. The internationally recognized ski week will officially take place from Sunday, Feb. 22, until Sunday March 1, 2015.
Planning for next year’s event will include local support from the Telluride Ski and Golf Company, and the producers are actively negotiating details with its to-be-announced official host hotel. In addition, StraightOut has established a new partnership with the Telluride Tourism Board to collaborate on ideas and opportunities to grow the event further.
The Telluride Tourism Board recently announced that the 2013 timeframe of Telluride Gay Ski Week (TGSW) ranked third in ski-season revenue generation – trailing just the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, according to tax remittance surveys in the town of Telluride. Founding Sponsor, Telluride Mountain Village Owners Association, has been the main financial supporter of TGSW since the second year of its inception. TMVOA just recently finalized its sponsorship agreement for the 2015 event and, as part of this agreement, stipulated that 2015 would be the last year the organization would provide funding to support the event.
“We are anxious to begin production on the 2015 Gay Ski Week and we appreciate TMVOA’s sponsorship of next year’s event, as well as its long history of support, “ said Scott Barretto, co-founder of StraightOut. “We also look forward to working more closely through an even tighter partnership with Telluride Ski and Golf Company as well as our host hotel.”
“I am especially excited to welcome our newest sponsor for 2015, the Town of Telluride, as well as our relationship with an experienced strategic advisor, the Telluride Tourism Board. Collectively, these two supporters, along with the resort, were instrumental in moving 2015 forward. It honestly looked like the upcoming event was in jeopardy of being cancelled. The Tourism Board was influential in exploring with us multiple possibilities to save the 2015 event, and the Town of Telluride answered the call. We look forward to enhancing the Telluride Gay Ski Week this year and beyond with their support,” Barretto said.
Ranked the “Top Ski Week in the U.S.A.” by Gay.com, TGSW brings together gay and lesbian skiers and snowboarders as well as supporters of the LGBT community from across the country and around the world. Guests of the event look forward to TGSW’s renowned mix of skiing, parties, celebrities, DJs and entertainers. A complete line-up will be announced in coming weeks but both first-time and returning guests can look forward to new additions as well as popular events; including the town favorite, White Night Party that will be held on Thursday, Feb.26.
