MONTROSE — The man suspected in a drive-by shooting in Delta has been captured in Lakewood, according to a Delta Police Department news release.
Roberto Nieto, 30, a resident of the Delta, Montrose area was arrested Tuesday on unrelated charges, according to Lakewood police. He had been wanted since June 22.
At approximately 6:45 a.m. June 22, officers of the Delta Police Department received a report of gun shots being heard somewhere on Grand Avenue. According to a news release, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Grand Avenue. Two people reported they were shot at while walking in the 600 block of Grand Avenue. The crime scene was identified and evidence was collected. Witnesses indicated three shots were fired from the passenger side window of a dark colored passenger car. The vehicle then drove away with no injuries have been reported.
Nieto will be transferred to Delta as soon as possible for his involvement in the alleged shooting. He faces charges of alleged felony menacing, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and reckless endangerment. He is also a suspect in several burglaries in Telluride, according to law enforcement officials there.
