OURAY COUNTY – In an effort to attract three new board members to fill upcoming vacancies, the Ouray County Regional Services Authority is hosting an Open House on Thursday, Aug. 7 from 6-7 p.m. at Mountain Medical Center, 295 Sherman Street in Ridgway.
Since 2000, the Ouray County RSA has been overseeing and administering the mil levy passed to ensure that there will be available medical services for Ouray County residents and citizens. Over the past 14 years the RSA has secured and managed the Mountain Medical Center building, acquired and purchased equipment and medical records software, and streamlined communications and operations with the current medical provider.
As the terms of three current board members are ending, the RSA board currently has openings for three new members. These are elected positions. If two candidates are running in any district, the candidates will be listed on the 2014 Ouray County election ballot.
Some of the qualifications and requirements of this position include: Fiscal management and planning; understanding of the RFP process; ability to review proposals and large scale contracts; team player; ability to learn the history of the RSA and support current and upcoming RSA projects; experience in for-profits, non-profits and/or government; medical background a plus. Candidates must be a resident of Ouray County for a minimum of one year and be able to commit four to ten hours per month to board duties.
The District seats that will be available are District #1 – currently held by Harvey Hudson; District #2 – currently held by Christen Williams; and District #4 – currently held by Richard Wojciechowski (appointed in May 2014 to complete the last several months of Randy Cassingham’s term). New board members will join continuing board members, Richard Gingery of District #3 and Linda Ingo of District #5.
(To confirm the District in which you live, please contact Michelle Nauer, Ouray County Clerk, 541 4th Street – Ouray, CO 81427. Phone: 970/325-4961.)
The upcoming open house provides an opportunity for potential candidates to meet and speak with the current board of directors and medical providers and learn about the RSA’s mission, mandates and milestones, as well as future projects. Light refreshments will be served.
