OURAY COUNTY – Community members are encouraged to join in a newly revived discussion about Ouray County Economic Development at two upcoming meetings in June.
The first meeting takes place at the Ouray County 4-H Center on Monday, June 2 from 1-3 p.m. It is intended as a follow-up from a Community Development Committee meeting held in Ouray in mid-May, at which a fledgling Ouray County Economic Develop Consortium was formed.
The meeting will include a review of regional and county goals that were included in the Stronger Economies Together process, and the current Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy from Region 10.
Participants will help identify short-term and long-term goals for economic development in Ouray County, including business development and retention and community development.
USDA Rural Development representative Pattie Snidow will facilitate the meeting, which is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
A second meeting, scheduled for June 10 from 9-10 a.m. at the Ouray Community Center, is geared toward organizations and businesses who could benefit from some in-depth marketing research. The Montrose Economic Development Corporation is sponsoring this session, in which Susan King of Hillsdale College will present her marketing research program and then take time to answer questions.
“Every business struggles with decisions concerning advertising, product selection and presentation and a host of other issues, where reliable quantitative information about your customers or prospects could help you do better,” noted Ouray Chamber Resort Association Executive Director Kat Papenbrock. “Susan King can show you how her (smart) students can be of help. Learn how you can request an extremely affordable marketing research study to find the answers you need to stay competitive in today’s environment.” RSVP to Kat Papenbrock email@example.com or 970/325-4746.
A similar meeting is offered for Montrose business owners on June 9 from 9-10 a.m. at The Bridges Golf Club Community. If you would like to attend this meeting instead of the one in Ouray, please RSVP to Sandy Head at SandyH@MontroseEDC.org or 970/249-9438.
