MONTROSE — A 42-year-old Montrose man whose identify is not being released remains at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction with gunshot wounds after officers say he pointed a gun at them.
According to a department news release at approximately 9:59 p.m. Montrose Police Officers were dispatched to the address at 901, 65.30 Road on a disturbance call.
Once on scene officers met with family members of the man and then investigated his welfare.
“Officers confronted a male subject in the residence that was brandishing a firearm at the police officer,” the news release said. “Officers fired at the subject striking him and stopping the threat.
Officers then rendered first aid the man until EMS arrived. The man was transferred to Montrose Memorial Hospital and later send to St. Mary’s via Careflight.
