TELLURIDE – Derek Tuohy has been working as a physical therapist for nearly 15 years, almost all of those spent in the Telluride. Tuohy recently launched a new social media campaign, including a Facebook business page and Twitter account, so that people can benefit from his expertise and training wherever they can access a computer.
“I am very passionate about what I do and I always try to stay on top of the current trends in health, fitness and rehabilitation,” says Tuohy. “I am excited to share this knowledge by reaching out to the telluride community through social media so others can use this information in their approach to staying healthy.”
He is excited to announce that he has developed his new business Facebook page “Balanced Physical Therapy-Derek Tuohy” and officially launched it this past week. Connecting this Facebook page with his Twitter account @PTtelluride, Tuohy will update his followers regularly with informative articles on health, physical therapy, strength and conditioning, and injury prevention and treatment. If that wasn’t reason enough to follow him online, next week he will be giving away a one month membership to 8750alt gym for a randomly chosen new “like” on his Facebook page or new follower on Twitter.
Located on the east end of Colorado Avenue inside the 8750alt gym, Balanced Physical Therapy is full-service office that staffs two physical therapists. Tuohy, along with Laura Homer, specialize in sports injury rehabilitation and prevention, including ACL injury prevention program, “Return to Sport” training, post-surgical rehabilitation, and “Return to Work” rehabilitation.
Tuohy has been involved in sports medicine and sports conditioning since 1995, working as a personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach for high school, collegiate and professional athletes. He earned his certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) in 1999. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Penn. in 1999 with a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy. He recently completed an advanced course in spinal and extremity manipulation. Derek’s treatment philosophy utilizes a combination of his manual therapy skills and functional / sports based exercise to assist his clients in achieving their goals.
