OURAY – The Ouray County Historical Society offers an intensive all-day genealogy workshop led by Durango-based genealogist and historian Jeannine Dobbins on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the OCHS Research Center and Annex in Ouray.
Dobbins holds a master’s degree in American History from California State University and is a member of many national lineage organizations. An active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, she has served the organization in many capacities at state and national levels.
The workshop runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The morning session will cover the basics of genealogy research, types of documentation available, and online sources for information. In the afternoon, Dobbins will offer one-on-one instruction for each individual. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to bring their own laptop computers.
Lunch is included in the registration fee of $55. All proceeds benefit the OCHS. To ensure individualized instruction, registration is limited to ten participants. Call the OCHS at 970/325-4576 to register or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
